Yup you read the heading right...
I am - for the first time in SIX years - a working woman!!!
Roland and Pierre (his business partner) have a software development company called Soft Craft Systems. I worked with Pierre years ago and that his how I met and married Roland.
I have thought of going back to work for a while, but have not wanted to commit to an 8 hour day. My kids would suffer too much. I came close to a job a few months ago, but the contract was postponed. Then I stopped looking.
Soft Craft have too much work, not enough staff, so I have been roped in! We did a number of casual meetings last week (all away from the client), but today was my first day at the client.
I am working at a company called Trade Ocean. I had such a great morning there. I'm using my grey matter!!! And the best part is, I realised that I'm just as good at my job as I was before kids.
It is a shipping agency, dealing with vessels from all over the world. The logistics and finance involved are incredible. And after 3 hours with the MD and Operations Director, I can see where their problems are. There is a lot more work to do of course, but to be able to walk back in after so long and see the problems - really made me feel good.
I've made it really clear that I don't want my kids to suffer and they are all happy with that. So I can dictate my hours.
I'm really excited, and so glad to be working my brain again!

Good for you! On top of your skills you now have the ability to multitask with screaming and fighting clients.
Hope you enjoy it.
