Blanco was fabulous as usual. It is by far the most amazing holiday I have had with children as it caters perfectly for both adults and kids. We had a long drive as usual, but it's really worth it. Going up really wasn't too bad as we left at 2am. We were a bit nervous as all 4 kids woke up getting into the car, but an hour or so down the road, once we were away from the big lights, there was silence. We stopped in Laingsburg for a much needed coffee and by the time we got to Beaufort West for breakfast (at around 7am) we were more than half way. We were at Blanco and settled before lunch.

One of the things that makes it such a great holiday are the kids facilities. There are nannies who will entertain them as much or as little as you want. They take them to meals so we can eat in peace and babysit in the evenings. We have a really great bunch that go at the same time as us and that really adds to it. We played in a lawn bowls tournament (that my proper bowl playing parents would cringe at), but it's a load of fun. I'm not sure what the experts would feel about fags and alcohol on the green (and don't forget the molehills!!!) but this is all about having a blast. We had an all day tennis tournament one of the days, a kids fun day and of course a trip to the Craddock golf club for the male variety.
The food is delicious, but there is far too much of it! I think Roland and the kids all come home expecting me to lay it on the same way, but they've got another thing coming!!! Fruit salad, cereals, fresh bread, porridge and eggs and bacon every morning. Soup, fresh bread, a light maincourse and dessert for lunch. And soup, starter, roast, desert and cheese and biscuits for supper. The kids eat pretty much the same food, just in a different dining room!

We took our bikes this year - thanks to Jaysons bike rack. And that was lots of fun! We must've looked a real site cruising along in the "bus", packed full of people and even more full of luggage, with numerous bicycles in tow! Although when we saw some of the other families arrive, we were mild in comparison.
It was a fantastic holiday. The kids wanted to go back as soon as we arrived home, although after our return journey with Cameron and Hannah projectile vomiting, I wasn't so sure!
I can't wait to go back next year!
